This summer is full of exciting happenings.  Coming up this Saturday is Concern Foundation’s 36th Annual Block Party.  This is an evening full of entertainment, delicious food and fund-raising to support cancer research worldwide.

Since 1968, Concern Foundation has been dedicated to raising and granting funds to support cancer research and has risen well over $42 million dollars to cultivate young scientists in sustaining the progress in treatment and prevention of cancer.  There are currently 52 researchers being funded by Concern Foundation to support their expertise in 13 different areas of cancer research.

The Block Party event began on glamorous Rodeo Drive and has now found a long-term site on the “New York” set of Paramount Studios in Hollywood.  The backdrop sets a great scene for the activities, which include events for all ages.

Among the entertainment are four stages of live music, traditional casino gaming, over 150 great silent auction packages and even a live auction featuring vacation packages and several one-of-a-kind items and opportunities.  Providing a “taste” of their specialties are over 50 of LA’s most beloved restaurants and caterers, such as Chaya Brasserie, Fogo de Chao, La Cachette Bistro and Savore Cuisine.

Last year’s Block Party was very dear to my heart, as I was selected as one of the honorees.  An honoree is chosen each year as being individuals that fully embody the true spirit of Concern Foundation and are fully committed to help Concern reach its goal of raising $2 million dollars for the Block Party event.  We were just short of our goal last year, bringing in $1.3 million dollars.  This year’s honorees are Jim and Ishita Ganguly-Morrison who have been a big support to the foundation.

I hope to see many of you make it to the affair this weekend.  This is Concern Foundation’s signature fundraiser and truly is unlike any other fundraising event.  As an incentive I am offering 2 lucky tickets, picked at random, to two of my Facebook friends.  To be included in the draw, be sure to send me a Facebook message and mention the Concern Foundation and your mailing address.  Drawing will be held this Thursday, July 8th at noon.

For the unlucky ones, you can purchase individual tickets, become a member or become a sponsor of the foundations through their website,, or by calling (310) 360-6100.  Event will be held Saturday July 10, 2010 at 5555 Melrose Avenue, Hollywood – doors open at 6pm.
