INFLUENCE FROM THE PAST:

ANDRé ARBUS

Not only do I have a passion for designing beautiful rooms, but for designing beautiful and unique pieces for those rooms, as well.  As with many other designers, naturally, there are some outside influences on the design of my furniture pieces.  If you are familiar with the timeless talent of André Arbus, then you can see the influence that he has had on my designs for the DLD Custom Furniture Line.

André Arbus was a French furniture designer, interior designer, and architect that made a name for himself during the late 1930’s and the 1940’s.  His furniture was inspired by the classicism of the French Empire, but his pieces involved more dramatic proportions.  Like myself, he also favored luxurious materials, such as fine and rare wood veneers, lacquer, vellum, and parchment.  He was the leader of a strong design movement and his timeless style continues to be reproduced by modern cabinet-makers today.

Here’s a look into some of my own designs and those of the multi-talented André Arbus.  What do you think?  Do any of you have influential figures from the past that have affected your work or lives?
