Southern California has a fabulous climate that lends itself to outdoor living and entertaining. The Asian Contemporary aesthetic of this Palm Desert residence extends outdoors onto the stone gazebo that overlooks the pool.

The Michael Taylor Designs teak collection was perfect for this meditative setting.  I kept the upholstery simple and added a punch of color and sense of luxury with the Oriental rug.  I have been known to break the rules and use indoor pieces, such as this rug, in outdoor living areas.

The covered loggia in this Beverly Hills Tuscan Villa features a 15-foot, distressed wood truss ceiling that gives the room instant history.  Columns support magnificent, curved archways that enhance the space’s Mediterranean feel and open up to the adjacent gardens.

The Louis XVI fireplace creates a focal point for this cozy grouping.  I found this antique mantel at a wonderful source just outside of Paris called Origines.  Completing the setting are  the oversized Rattan sofa and chairs set around this coffee table from Mimi London.

Simplicity was key in designing this Aspen retreat, perfect for sharing a morning cup of coffee and reading a book.  Walters Wicker furniture keeps it informal and comfortable.  The natural color of the throws and cushions blend into the surrounding space without competing with the view.
