If you love Jazz, come join us at the Sonoma Jazz Festival coming up next weekend, May 21 – 23.  This festival is inspired by the successful and wildly acclaimed Jazz in Marciac Festival in the Gascony Region of southwest France – land of the Three Musketeers.  It will be a happening!

This giant tent is erected just steps from Sonoma’s Downtown Square.

Sonoma Jazz is a “sister festival” to the JAS (Jazz Aspen Snowmass) summer festivities.  I am proud to be a part of this non-profit organization celebrating its 20th anniversary.  We have raised over $5 Million for after-school music programs in the Aspen area.  These programs provide instruments, teachers and private lessons to kids where public school funding for music education has been drastically reduced.  The JAS/John Oates Roaring Fork Valley Scholastic Songwriting Contest showcases student composers and song writers.

The Sonoma Jazz education program includes a Teen Jazz Music Camp; Middle School Musical; Elementary Percussion Program and Guitars in the Classroom, where teachers are strumming guitars and weaving songs into the lives of elementary school children.  In the last six years, we have raised over $400,000 for these invaluable programs through the support of the Sonoma Jazz Festival.

Sonoma Jazz Festival is a celebration with food, wine and an eclectic music lineup that takes place in downtown Sonoma’s Field of Dreams.  This year’s headliners include:

In addition to the festival there is the Wine & Song Around the Plaza, which will once again take place on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.  Stroll. Listen.  Eat.

This going to be a sellout so hurry and purchase your tickets now at www.sonomajazz.org.

The amazing Joe Cocker appeared at the 2009 festival and wowed the crowd. The 4,000 sq. ft. tent provides a surprisingly intimate performance venue.
