Aspen Starwood

Dramatic settings inside and out make this home renovation in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains a stellar project in every way. Rooms were transformed from nondescript to wow through the clever use of scale, light and furnishings.

A key factor in making this project successful was that the clients were decisive which allowed the project to move forward quickly. DLD worked daily with the contractor via FaceTime demonstrating how new technology has changed the way we work with our clients and vendors. No longer are repeated trips to the job site necessary, plus drawings and renderings can be sent instantly without any lag time in construction and installation.

All the furniture for this project was custom-made in Los Angeles and shipped all at once creating a turnkey project. Many clients are concerned about having furniture made in another city and then shipped to their location. As it turns out, most high-end furnishings are made in Los Angeles and it saves time and money in the long run to have pieces made at their source and shipped as a group.

Floors and wood trim were completely refinished in the living/dining room and new window coverings give the appearance of the windows being larger in scale simply by removing the overhead beams to give a more spacious effect overall. Also, a custom  sectional designed by Donna Livingston Design, is upholstered with Rose Tarlow fabric and is trimmed with a dark blue leather cord welt by Samuel & Son; and a colorful Jim Dine painting holds court over a Jean de Merry sideboard flanked by Paul Ferrante sconces. The end result – lots of good vibes and good energy.
